Every symbol you combine is the result of an exact chain of Bolts.
To unlock the ultimate reward of the thirteenth stage on Merge Island, you need to understand the principle of doubling. Since every new symbol is created from two identical symbols of the previous stage, the energy requirement does not grow linearly, but exponentially.
It all starts with your first Bolt. This generates a base symbol of Level 1. To reach the next level, this investment doubles every time. While Level 2 costs a modest 2 Bolts, you will notice by Level 5 that the journey becomes much more demanding.
Exponential Growth
Since you need two symbols of the previous level for each higher symbol, the costs per level double. While Level 2 costs only 2 Bolts, Level 6 already requires 32 Bolts, and Level 10 reaches a staggering 512 Bolts. Therefore, it is exponentially important—especially in higher levels—that you also combine your Bolts to collect the maximum profit of 35 
Bolts, which will bring you to your goal faster and easier.

For the final symbol of Level 13, you must combine multiple symbols. This requires an investment of thousands of Bolts to complete the entire merge chain from start to finish.
